Biofilm grows in the pipe work of all hot tubs and also in the nicks and crannies around the jets, under head-rests, in the filter compartment and just about anywhere else. 

Biofilm is initially evident as a slippery film and, as the problem grows, it can form a thick sludgy layer. It is the ideal breading ground for bacteria, mould and algae.
